SPLC Releases Guidance for Leadership in Sustainable Purchasing v2.0

Today, SPLC released a significant update to its Guidance for Leadership in Sustainable Purchasing, a comprehensive resource for organizations who have or are developing a sustainable purchasing program. The first video below describes what is new in Guidance v2.0. The second video provides a tour of the new online platform through which Guidance v2.0 is accessed.

About the Guidance

The Guidance for Leadership in Sustainable Purchasing is intended to help organizations improve the environmental, social, and economic performance within their supply chains—across the entirety of product and service life cycles—by implementing a strategic sustainable purchasing program. This Guidance is based on the Council’s Principles for Leadership in Sustainable Purchasing v1.0, which define what organizations must do to demonstrate leadership in sustainable purchasing.

Organizations in a wide variety of sectors and regions can use this Guidance to understand the environmental, social, and economic life cycle impacts of their purchased goods and services, identify actions that best address these priorities, and benchmark progress toward goals. This Guidance is a voluntary program that will serve as the basis for a future rating system that rewards organizations that demonstrate leadership in sustainable purchasing.
