I know I speak for all of us when I say that we have never quite faced a challenge like the Covid-19 public health crisis. A crisis shows us what we are made of, as we call upon our own strength combined with the collective strength of the country to work through this with courage, patience, determination, and discipline. We are all a product of our own experiences, and all share a feeling of uncertainty. Yet we have more moments of hope and awe as we witness the heroism of our fellow Americans, the resilience of the human spirit, and the ingenuity and good corporate citizenship of our businesses. Broadway going dark was a pivotal point in this crisis but right now I am happy to say…Our Show Will Go On.

SPLC leadership plans to move our 2020 Leadership Awards Celebration to an event later this year. Because we’ve moved our celebration, the SPLC will now accept 2020 SPLC Leadership Award applications through July 1st, 2020. SPLC’s coveted Leadership Awards recognize organizations and individuals that address social, environmental, economic, and ethical aspects of sustainable purchasing.

If you have already submitted an application, no action is needed. For those that have not, now you have more time to nominate your organization, a colleague, or yourself!

SPLC Establishes Learning from COVID-19 Member Community Meetings

As the COVID-19 response exposes the fragility of extended supply chains and the inequitable distribution of resources and power, the crisis also offers an unparalleled opportunity for a massive shift to new ways of doing business focused on resilience and social cohesion. SPLC Action Team Publishes New Purchasing Recommendations for Food Service Ware

The SPLC Action Team on Sustainable Food Service Ware, a partnership with the Center for Environmental Health (CEH) and the Charting a Path to Solutions to PFAS Group, has published Purchasing Recommendations for Sustainable Food Service Ware. The recommendations propose strategies to reduce environmental and human health risks.
