RATER PROFILE
CDP Scoring
BACKGROUND
CDP is the not-for-profit that runs a global disclosure system for investors, companies, cities, states and regions to manage their environmental impacts. CDP’s rating system serves two main audiences: investors and buyers (for supply chains risks). CDP’s disclosure platform helps organizations and their suppliers capture data on climate change, water and forests management.
CDP’s provides a score which assesses progress towards environmental stewardship as reported by a company’s response. The score assesses the level of detail and comprehensiveness of the content, as well as the company’s awareness of climate change issues, management methods and progress towards action taken on climate change as reported in the response. Scoring of CDPs questionnaires is conducted by accredited scoring partners trained by CDP. CDP’s internal scoring team coordinate and collate all scores and run data quality checks and quality assurance processes to ensure that scoring standards are aligned between samples and scoring partners. CDP provides separate scores on Climate Change, Water and Deforestation questionnaires.
The independent assessor found that CDP met the SPLC Supplier Ratings Framework, with a transparent rating methodology, scalability, accessibility to suppliers and recognition by investors.
