Quotes from Post-event Evaluations

SPLC Connect
“The SPLC Connect was very successful–I only signed up for 4 connections and I wish I would have committed to more.”

“Unlike all other matchmaking events I have attended, all the players at the event had a shared interest in sustainability. This meant we shared a much more sincere interest in finding ways to work together than in other matchmaker situations.”

“Thought this was a great way to network with vendors. Learned a lot in a short period of time.”

“It’s a great ice-breaker at the beginning of the summit.”

“I had three impromptu meetings and found two of them to be very valuable.”

“It is an opportunity to get someone’s undivided attention, which is hard to do in hallway breaks where conversations can be cut short by the movement of people to and fro.”

“Great way to meet folks I might not otherwise have met during the summit. I also got a lot of value out of the roundtable discussions – glad those were 30 min.”

“I was impressed, a very well done event and I will participate again.”

Summit
“I see several opportunities, which I can implement immediately in my organization.”

“Quality of the content, and the people in attendance was unparalleled.”

“I like the wide variety of organizations that were in attendance. It exposed me to opinions and theories that I don’t typically encounter.”

“I found the summit to be extremely valuable and resourceful.”

“The shared knowledge between various members is unbelievable, overwhelming, and enlightening.”

“The focus of many sessions on the social/ethical aspects of sustainability were exactly what I was looking for. That was very refreshing. The environment didn’t get short shrift, either.”

“Thank you for bringing public and private institutions together as well as purchaser, supplier and public interest groups to have these crucial conversations in advancing sustainable purchasing. This work will only advance through these invaluable connections.”

“Really pleased to have participated. Great work being done and wonderful to be with so many committed people.”

“I liked connecting with peers, vendors, working on useful tools/offerings, getting ‘big picture’ stories and info from NGO’s… being around the collective expertise of the SPLC members is useful in and of itself.”

“Lots of peer-to-peer engagement. SPLC did a great job of structuring the event to get input from participants, which builds the community.”

“I was skeptical if the SPLC Conference would be of value for me as a buyer for a financial services firm; thought the conference might be geared more to government and manufacturing. A colleague who attend last year told me it would be a fit for me and I would not be disappointed. I am really glad I took that advice. SPLC was a fantastic event with valuable content for anyone involved in any type of purchasing.”

“Great to get the NGO perspective on stage!”

Sustainability Achievements

In planning the 2015 Summit, we sought to model sustainable procurement practices in the venue, food, and hospitality contracts that we negotiated. The events held at Bell Harbor Conference Center achieved a 95% diversion rate, up from the conference center’s 70% average.
