One of the most challenging aspects of sustainable purchasing is deciding when to evaluate the sustainability performance of one’s suppliers, what criteria to evaluate them on, where to get the data, and then how to engage them in improving that performance over time. For buyers, it can be difficult to come up with a streamlined approach, given the wide range in type and quantity of products and services they purchase. For suppliers on the other side, being approached in similar-but-different ways by many customers can be overwhelming and counterproductive. In this keynote conversation, participants will hear from several sustainable purchasing leaders about how they have streamlined that process for themselves and suppliers in the marketplace. Participants will also be introduced to any tools, such as software, that these purchasers are leveraging in their process.
