Harry Lewis is an attorney and policy advisor at the US Environmental Protection Agency headquarters in Washington, DC. Assigned to the Pollution Prevention Division within the Office of Chemical Safety and Pollution Prevention, he has been engaged in the development of sustainability policy and standards focusing on hospitality, travel and the service sector generally. Lewis’ work in this area has been directed toward the government’s interests and mandates in promoting environmentally preferable purchasing for the government. His recent work has involved developing rules and procurement guidance in areas of federal travel, as well as government meetings and conferences, and he was central in initiating and developing the recently published suite of ASTM/APEX Green Meetings standards. Prior to coming to the EPA in 1997, Harry Lewis was the Director of the Employment Standards Service of the Maryland Division of Labor and Industry.
