Jessica Champagne is the Director of Research and Advocacy for the Worker Rights Consortium, an independent labor rights monitoring organization. She coordinates investigations in apparel factories around the world and engages with international apparel brands and retailers to correct violations. Advocacy by Ms. Champagne and her team has resulted, among other successes, in millions of back pay and other illegally denied compensation being paid out to garment workers. Ms. Champagne is a former member of the Board of Instigators of the Diverse City Fund, and, in 2012, received a Heschel Vision Award from Jews United for Justice. Over more than fifteen years as an advocate for workers’ and human rights, she has worked with the Service Employees International Union (SEIU) in the United States, and the Indonesian Society for Social Transformation (Insist) and the Urban Poor Consortium in Indonesia.
