Samantha Veide joined the Mars Drinks team in 2009. In her current position as the Global Director of Sustainability she’s in charge of the company’s sustainability strategy to build customer-centric sustainable solutions that also help Mars Incorporated reach its goal of “being the most mutual company in the world.” She also liaises with coffee and tea industry on Mars Drinks’ behalf ensuring that Mars Drinks is actively engaged with the industry.
Previous to her time at Mars Drinks she spent 10 years with Caribou Coffee Company, starting out as a barista then spending the majority of her time dedicated to Training. As the Senior National Training Manager of Curriculum and Program Development she was responsible for the design, development and delivery of training solutions for over 6000+ field employees across 17 states.
After an inspirational trip to Guatemala to visit predominantly women-run coffee cooperatives in 2004, she joined the International Women’s Coffee Alliance. A year later she joined the Board of Directors. She served as a board member until 2010.
She is also actively involved in the Specialty Coffee Association of America. She currently serves as the chair for the SCAA’s Sustainability Council; the organization’s “think tank” for sustainability issues in the industry. She also currently serves on the advisory group for the Coffee Quality Institute’s Partnership for Gender Equity research program.
Prior to discovering that her true passion lay in the world of coffee she gained her experience in education and training as an instructor at The Ohio State University.
Samantha holds a Bachelor’s of Science in Organizational Communication, a Bachelor’s of Arts in Psychology and a Master’s Degree in Gender Studies. She is also Q Grader certified and recently completed her post-graduate work in Sustainable Business Leadership through the University of Cambridge, U.K.
