Below are several way to make your way to Summit 2016. We have listed the options in order of most to least in carbon savings.

By Bike

Bicycle racks are provided at the entrance to Kellogg Conference Hotel. Or, visit your nearest Capital Bikeshare station and return at a nearby station. There are several Bikeshare stations within walking distance from Kellogg conference Hotel. This is a fun, easy, and affordable (not to mention sustainable) way to get around the city and often it can also be the quickest way!

By Metro

Nearest Metro stop: NoMa/ Gallaudet U  *
Next nearest Metro stop: Union Station
* Gallaudet University provides a free door-to-door shuttle from both of these Metro stations to the Kellogg Conference Hotel (see below for details). 

By Train

Take Amtrak to Union Station in Washington, DC. Gallaudet University provides a free door-to-door shuttle from Union Station to the Kellogg Conference Hotel (see below for details). 

By Bus

MegaBus and BoltBus offer very affordable express bus service from many large cities on the east coast on flexible schedules. Buses arrive at Union Station. Gallaudet University provides a free door-to-door shuttle from the Union Station to the Kellogg Conference Hotel, departing from the bus arrival area every 15 to 25 minutes (see below for exact schedule). Look for signs or ask for direction to “Gallaudet Shuttle”. 

By Air

1. Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA)
Reagan is the closest airport and is the best connected to the subway system (http://www.wmata.com/). 

Ground Transportation from Reagan/DCA:

Metro Rail
From National Airport Metro Station, take the Yellow Line to Gallery Place Chinatown Station. Transfer to the Red Line to NoMA-Gallaudet U Station. Gallaudet University provides a free door-to-door shuttle from “NoMA-Gallaudet U” Station to the Kellogg Conference Hotel (see below for details).

Reagan/DCA offers a number of shared ride service options.

Car

Reagan/DCA is about 7 miles southwest of Gallaudet University and takes about 15 minutes to drive in light traffic.  Rush hour traffic on Henry G. Shirley Memorial Highway I-395 can delay trips by as much as a half hour to an hour. Free parking is available for Summit attendees in the parking deck on 6th St NE, directly behind the Kellogg Conference Hotel and across the street from Union Market. 2. Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD)
Dulles/IAD is about 36 miles northwest of Gallaudet University.

Ground Transportation from Dulles/IAD:

Metro Rail/Silver Line Express Bus 
With direct service to Metro’s Silver Line, the Silver Line Express Bus provides a convenient, economical connection between the Dulles Main Terminal and the Silver Line’s Wiehle-Reston East Metrorail station, about 15 minutes away. From the Wiehle-Reston East Metrorail station, take the silver line to Metro Center Station. Transfer to the Red Line to “NoMA-Gallaudet U” Station. Gallaudet University provides a free door-to-door shuttle from NoMA-Gallaudet Union Station to the Kellogg Conference Hotel (see below for details). 

Airport Shuttle 
DIA offers a number of shared ride service options.

Car (not recommended)
The drive takes about an hour or two depending on the traffic.  The Dulles Greenway VA-267 toll road is the access road to this airport and is free for airport destinations but not free for other destinations located along this highway.  Freeways that provide access to the toll road are the I-495 Capital Beltway and the Custis Memorial Parkway I-66. Free parking is available for Summit attendees in the parking deck on 6th St NE, directly behind the Kellogg Conference Hotel and across the street from Union Market. 3. Baltimore/Washington International Airport (BWI)
BWI is a similar distance from Gallaudet as Dulles, but the public transit and highway connectivity is the most challenging of the three airports.

Ground Transportation from BWI:

Metro
The BWI Express/B30 Metro bus service runs every 40 minutes between BWI and the Greenbelt Metro Station during these times: M-F 6:38am-10:33pm, Saturday and Sunday 9:13am-10:30pm. (B30 route map and timetable) From the Greenbelt Metro Station, take the Yellow or Green lines to Fort Totten, then change to the Red line and continue to “NoMA-Gallaudet U” Station. Gallaudet University provides a free door-to-door shuttle from NoMA-Gallaudet Union Station to the Kellogg Conference Hotel (see below for details).

Car
(not recommended)
31 miles northeast of Gallaudet University, and takes an hour or an hour and a half to drive to Gallaudet University on a day with mild traffic. Rush hour on the MD-295 Baltimore-Washington Parkway can slow down traffic near major interchanges. The BWI Parkway is the closest to Gallaudet University and is the most convenient freeway to use in order reach the I-495 Capital Beltway from Gallaudet University. Free parking is available for Summit attendees in the parking deck on 6th St NE, directly behind the Kellogg Conference Hotel and across the street from Union Market. Gallaudet Shuttle Service to/from Metro Stations (Complimentary!)

A free shuttle is provided from Union Station and from the “NoMa-Gallaudet U” Metro station. The shuttle bus arrives to the NoMa-Gallaudet U Metro Station then proceeds to Union Station before returning to Gallaudet University and the Kellogg Conference Hotel. The shuttle runs every 15 minutes Monday-Friday between 6:30AM and 9:30PM (weekday schedule). On Saturday-Sunday it runs every 22 minutes between 10:00AM and 9:00PM (weekend schedule). Boarding Location at NoMa/ Gallaudet U Metro Station
The location for boarding/discharging passengers at the NoMa-Gallaudet U station is the corner of M Street and 2nd Sts., NE. When leaving the station via the subway exit to the M street side.  After reaching the street, take a left to the traffic light, which will be 2nd St., NE.  The bus will stop just before the traffic light on M St., to board and discharge passengers, then will continue left onto 2nd St., NE.
 
Boarding Location at Union Station
The location for boarding/discharging passengers at Union Station is the parking garage. Take the escalator up to the Amtrak/Commuter Level (Mezzanine Level), head north through the sliding glass doors and take the escalator/stairs to the bus deck level. Use pedestrian walkways and follow signage to access the Gallaudet Shuttle bus.

Free parking is available for Summit attendees in the parking deck on 6th St NE, directly behind the Kellogg Conference Hotel and across the street from Union Market.
