Open Contracting principles and practices are increasingly being adopted by purchasers around the world in order to prevent fraud and corruption, ensure transparent and open business relationships, and deliver better value. Over 25 countries have made commitments to adopt open contracting and nearly half of these countries are actively implementing the Open Contracting Data Standard, with some already reporting big efficiencies and savings as a result. This trend is increasingly affecting the business community who have a lot to gain from being part of this growing movement. Businesses (from SMEs to multinationals) are finding that open contracting is opening up new market opportunities, making it easier to engage in public processes, and driving efficiencies and savings in doing so.
This panel session will feature leaders from the Open Contracting Partnership, business community, and experts on the connections between procurement transparency and human rights, corruption, environmental degradation and other sustainability issues.
