Supplier Diversity Specialist, Purdue University Office of Supplier Diversity Development
Michael Babcock, Supplier Diversity Specialist, is responsible for administering the processes, metrics and communications to support the Purdue University Office of Supplier Diversity Development. In this role, Michael works with the procurement department and other internal stake holders to promote the equitable inclusion of diverse businesses. Before being hired by Purdue University Michael worked for the Indiana Department of Administration’s Division of Supplier Diversity as the Business Development and Outreach Manager. As the Business Development and Outreach Manager, Michael was in charge of planning all the community outreach across the state for the Division, as well as providing business owners with the information and resources they needed to successfully conduct business with the state of Indiana. Michael received a BS in Public Relations and Advertising from the University of Southern Indiana. While at USI Michael was heavily involved with both his fraternity, Phi Delta Theta, and the ROTC program, receiving his commission as an officer in the U.S. Army.
This session will introduce the core value proposition for incorporating diversity and inclusion into procurement, as well as the benefits it has for the economic sustainability of our communities.
