Raj Rajan is the technical leader for Global Sustainability at Ecolab Inc. In his current role, Dr. Rajan helps drive top-line growth for Ecolab and its customers by embedding sustainability thought leadership into innovation management, environmental metrics for purchased goods, internal operations and product offerings, and sector-level standardization of sustainable growth benchmarks.
Dr. Rajan has more than 30 years of experience in water cycle management and environmental process engineering for the paper, petroleum, chemical, utility, food and beverage, transportation, and energetics industries as well as the travel and tourism sector.
Dr. Rajan is active in industry groups focused on developing greenhouse gas mitigation, climate change adaptation and water stewardship guidance. He serves as a business representative on Minnesota’s Clean Water Council and on the board of directors of the nonprofit Fresh Energy.
Dr. Rajan also serves on the advisory council of The Nature Conservancy’s Minnesota Headwaters Fund and on the faculty leadership council of the Institute on the Environment at the University of Minnesota.
Dr. Rajan received his Ph.D. in Environmental Engineering from the University of Massachusetts and a bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology in Varanasi, India. He is a registered professional engineer in Michigan and Ohio.
