Veronica Villena

Assistant Professor of Supply Chain Management , Penn State Smeal College of Business

Veronica H. Villena is an assistant professor of supply chain and information systems in the Smeal Business School at the Pennsylvania State University. Her research has focused on how buyers and suppliers inadvertently create relational inertia when they commit to establishing strategic partnerships and the mechanisms that help them overcome this inertia. Dr. Villena’s current research explores how leading companies transfer their best environmental and social practices to their first-, second-, and third-tier suppliers. Her studies have been recognized by the Production and Operations Management Society, Decision Sciences Institute, and Academy of Management Society. Her work has been published in a variety of prestigious journals, including the Journal of Operations Management, Production and Operations Management Journal, the Journal of Supply Chain Management, the Journal of Management, and Decision Sciences Journal. Prior to joining the academia, Dr. Villena worked in several positions in manufacturing, purchasing, quality, and project management. Her experience as an auditor for SGS allowed her to assess process management of hundreds multinational companies in various industries in Europe and Latin America.
