Make Better Furniture Purchases by Giving Data a Seat at the Table

Hiawatha 2

For purchasers buying for many categories, learning the nuances of each industry and to establish the “right” criteria to achieve desired outcomes can be challenging. Currently, many organizations go it alone with their specific criteria, or borrow only parts of content created by others. Vendors and manufacturers then struggle to keep up with a barrage of ever changing requests, and get confused where the market is headed. This can result in incomplete or inaccurate proposals. The good news is that we are entering a highly collaborative time for sustainability, and owners are increasingly seeking ways to move markets together through shared criteria, sending clear signals to the market about what’s most important. The even better news is that we are entering a digital data revolution that enables greater visibility and collaboration. In this session, participants will hear from public and private organizations about how they are aligning their procurements with industry leading criteria for furniture. This session is moderated by Molly Ray, Senior Manager of Sustainability, Office Depot, Inc.
