Multi-Stakeholder Partnerships: The Key to Driving Change for Sustainable Sourcing

Hiawatha 2

When developing sustainability strategies for complicated products with global supply chains, multi-stakeholder partnerships are key to making progress. Sustainable Seafood is a challenging category for global Quality of Life provider Sodexo as they provide food service in a variety of sectors globally. A balanced approach to the environmental and social concerns of the category was essential and varied sustainability certifications and standards needed to be considered. Sodexo set out to find partners for creation and implementation of a Global Sustainable Seafood Sourcing Guide. World Wildlife Fund was essential in supporting the development of their global sourcing guide and Slade Gorton was the supplier in the US to implement that charter across thousands of sites. The National Aquarium is one of Sodexo’s clients that collaborated on the implementation of sustainable seafood and saw the benefits of this sourcing strategy. Come hear about the specific case of Sodexo’s Sustainable Seafood Sourcing Guide and discuss how partnerships can enhance a sustainability strategy and help to address challenges along the way.
