“Buying recycled” was the beginning of many sustainable purchasing programs and such provisions are baked in to many sustainable purchasing policies and specifications. Recycling has grown over the past 40 years into a large and global activity.

However, recycling systems have been recently severely disrupted by China’ stopping accepting imports of used plastics and paper in January 2018 (an estimated 30 percent of North America’s recyclables were historically processed in China).

This panel will explore the changed state of affairs in the global recycling markets from different points of view, moderated by recycling system expert Anne Johnson. join us to better understand what is happening, and what purchasers should be asking and doing on recycling to achieve it’s full environmental, social and economic benefit.
