Setting Science Based Targets: A Leadership Opportunity for Procurement and Supply Chain Managers

Rock Island

Companies and other large organizations are increasingly being asked to set Science-Based Targets for reducing their climate impacts in line with climate science. Many are taking up the challenge, ensuring they are playing their part in the global effort to limit global warming to well below 2 –degrees Celsius. Companies setting such science based targets are also looking at their value-chain – scope 3 emission reductions. According to data collected by CDP, about 40% of the global GHG emissions are driven – or influenced – by companies through their purchases.

As companies increasingly integrate sustainability metrics into their procurement processes, buyers and category managers are becoming more cognizant of how Science Based Targets requirements help shape procurement decisions.

Come to this event to learn why Science Based Targets have become mainstream, how such targets can help companies achieve their ambition for sustainability leadership in their business sector, and why leading companies are increasingly integrating Science Based Targets and other sustainability metrics into their procurement processes and supplier engagement programs.
