Training for Results: How to Design and Implement Sustainable Purchasing Training for Today’s Complex Supply Chain

Hiawatha 1

Training programs on responsible sourcing and sustainable purchasing for buyers can help to increase awareness, visibility, and inspire buyers to think about how responsible sourcing and sustainable purchasing impacts daily operations and procurement activities. They can be challenging to put together given the wide variety of topics to potentially cover, and potentially global reach. This session will present two case studies of responsible sourcing / sustainable purchasing training programs recently developed: Hilton’s training for buyers on responsible sourcing, and Caesars Entertainment’s training on sustainable purchasing for category managers. Participants in this session will learn strategies and tactics for establishing a successful training program, including identifying the project scope and target audience, identifying learning needs and outcomes, connecting training to existing CSR goals and initiatives navigating the funding approval process, developing relevant training content, translating content to multiple languages, utilizing e-learning platforms, connecting to other supplier-engagement tools, and monitoring course compliance and outcomes.

This session is moderated by Tim Reeve, President, Reeve Consulting.
