Do you see an area desperately in need of innovation, and you want to explore what can be done with other people who see the same need?
Are you interested in just showing up for conversations in which you can help develop sustainable purchasing innovations with other movers and shakers?
Do you have an innovative project you’ve been wanting to undertake, but you need to find other participants?
Have you developed an innovative practice that could change the world if it were to spread, but you need help figuring out how to spread it?
If you answered yes to any of the above, you will love the Innovation Accelerator sessions at the SPLC Summit!
These discussions center on innovative projects that are in early stage development or ready to launch and need sustainable purchasing professionals to join, test, expand or replicate them to scale up for impact.
Here’s how it works:
1. NOW: Submit Innovative Projects/Ideas
During the Summit’s Call for Presentations (deadline: December 1, 2019), anyone can submit an Innovation Accelerator Presentation proposal. These proposals describe innovative projects that the submitter will be prepared to share briefly in a roundtable setting. Presenters can showcase an early-stage project they are looking for feedback on, a brand new idea that the presenter is looking for collaborators on, or something else. [Projects should be non-commercial or pre-commercial in nature.]
2. BEFORE THE SUMMIT: Projects Selected for the Accelerator Sessions
The Summit Planning Committee, together with SPLC Staff, will select as many as thirty proposals to be included in the Innovation Accelerator Sessions at the Summit. The Committee and Staff will select proposals based on their readiness for the creative thinking and feedback that Summit’s attendees can offer, and on the opportunity they present for audience members to contribute to their improvement, growth, and scale.
3. AT THE SUMMIT: Presenter and Attendee Participation
Summit Attendees will be able to review the roundtable topics in advance of the Summit. Once on-site, attendees will be able to claim a seat at a roundtable with a topic of interest to them during each round of the Accelerator sessions. This is a speed session – presenters speak for no more than 10 minutes, and group conversation follows for 20 minutes. Topics will be repeated more than once so that attendees can attend more than one topic and so that presenters can engage more attendees than fit around a table at one time.
4. AFTER THE SUMMIT: Connecting for Next Steps
We will provide a sign-in sheet for each roundtable so that any of the participants who wish to participate in next steps for a given Accelerator project can provide their contact information to SPLC and the presenter. We’ll also ask that one person from each round of participants self-nominate to take notes on the conversation to be shared with the presenter as a record of suggestions and comments. In keeping with Chatham House Rules, the report-outs will not attribute ideas or outcomes to specific individuals. Interested parties will be able to follow-up with a topic’s presenter for more details or to get engaged in moving the project ahead.
