Sarah O'Brien
CEO

As SPLC's CEO, Sarah is responsible for ensuring that SPLC's many programs empower procurement and supply chain professionals around the globe to successfully implement high-impact sustainable purchasing practices. Sarah is an expert on sustainable purchasing and specifically on the procurement of more sustainable electronics. Prior to joining SPLC she was Director of the multi-stakeholder Clean Electronics Production Network (CEPN) working on the elimination of worker exposure to toxic chemicals in the electronics supply chain. For more than a decade previously, Sarah led global purchaser engagement with the EPEAT sustainable procurement tool for the Green Electronics Council. Earlier, Sarah developed and managed the Environmentally Preferable Purchasing program of the nonprofit Hospitals for a Healthy Environment (now renamed Practice Greenhealth) and served as a Senior Outreach Associate for INFORM’s PBT-free purchasing program, working with states across the country on reducing their procurement of products containing mercury and other persistent toxics. Sarah has a BA from Yale University and a Masters degree in anthropology from Temple University.

Director of Learning and Member Engagement

As Director of Learning and Member Engagement, Johanna works directly with SPLC members to develop and implement strategic sustainable purchasing programs designed to drive market transformation. She develops and executes new programs and guidance, creates and supports opportunities for collaboration, and engages with stakeholders to ensure SPLC programming generates real impact. Prior to joining SPLC, Johanna coordinated the State of Minnesota's Sustainable Procurement Program for 10 years, assisting the state with making purchases that demonstrated the highest level of environmental, social, and economic responsibility. During her time with the State, she led the development of a charter for the State's program, increasing the State's commitment to and accountability for sustainable procurement. She also successfully advocated for including sustainable purchasing in an Executive Order on state agency sustainability. Johanna has been involved with SPLC since 2013. She engaged the State of Minnesota as a founding member, has served on numerous SPLC committees, chaired SPLC's Technical Advisory Committee (TAC), and served on the Board as liaison to the TAC. Johanna holds a Bachelor of Science from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and a Master of Science from San Francisco State University.

Kris Spriano 
Technical Programs Director

As Technical Programs Director, Kris is responsible for ensuring members' needs are being met in a way that provides them with an impact-focused purposeful track towards sustainable procurement excellence. Kris co-manages the ongoing design, development and deployment of member resources and training supporting these efforts including the sustainable procurement assessment system, supporting guidance, and the online community member experience.   Additionally, she co-manages SPLC's ongoing internal operations.  Prior to SPLC, Kris was a Supply Chain Sustainability Manager at Cisco Systems focused on Scope 3 supply chain greenhouse gas reductions, packaging environmental compliance and sustainability, and product sustainability.  She also worked in a variety of other supply chain roles including program management, demand planning management, learning and development, and manufacturing process engineering.  Kris is a certified ISSP Sustainability Excellence Associate (SEA) and holds a B.S. in Industrial Engineering from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. 

Cristina Vandroff
Operations and Administration Manager

As Operations and Administration Manager, Cristina works directly with SPLC to provide management and administrative support for Operations-related functions within the SPLC including, but not limited to, HR, IT Systems, and Finance. Prior to joining SPLC, Cristina has worked with different non-profit organizations in managing Human Resource and Operations functions. She has created many policies and procedures for various organizations and led culture management initiatives. Cristina holds a Bachelor of Science from the University of Maryland University College in Human Resource Management and Communications.

Colin is a recent graduate of the University of Colorado Boulder. His passion for sustainability and renewable energy drives his research and career goals. Based in Colorado, he enjoys hiking, movies, and tennis.

Samantha Rosenberg
Program Associate

Samantha Rosenberg is a sophomore at Cornell University majoring in Environment and Sustainability with a concentration in Environmental Economics and a minor in Business. She believes that responsible business is essential to solving the climate crisis and aims to utilize her finance and marketing skills to promote sustainability in her career.

In the summer of 2021, Samantha worked with Cimbria Capital, a private equity ESG firm. This fall, Samantha joined Cornell Alpha Fund and Impact Investing at Cornell, two selective student organizations. Samantha is an Industrials Analyst and the Head of Marketing for Alpha Fund and an ESG Analyst for Impact Investing. In her free time, Samantha pursues writes poetry, plays the piano, guitar, and ukulele and listens to music podcasts. Samantha hopes to make a positive impact by bridging her expertise in sustainability, business, and marketing.
