Now Available: CHARME Year 1 Progress Report
We’re proud to share the Year 1 Progress Report from CHARME—the Collaborative for Healthcare Action to Reduce MedTech Emissions. This milestone report showcases the initiative’s early achievements, key insights, and the collective progress of committed industry leaders working to decarbonize the health care value chain.
CHARME brings together health systems, MedTech suppliers, distributors, group purchasing organizations, and industry stakeholders to address the urgent challenge of value chain emissions in health care. The initiative is convened by SPLC, in partnership with Vizient, Kaiser Permanente, and Accenture.
With 40 participating organizations—representing more than 280 hospitals, 6,400 care sites, and $1.1 trillion in annual revenue—CHARME is driving change across five workstreams:
- Expanding renewable energy adoption
- Innovating and sourcing more sustainable products
- Transitioning from single-use to durable products
- Expanding programs to reprocess single-use devices
- Strengthening supplier engagement on climate goals
