Benchmark and Elevate Your Sustainable Procurement Program with SPLC Navigator

News & Updates,

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

August 20, 2025 - The Sustainable Purchasing Leadership Council (SPLC) has opened the 2025 reporting window for SPLC Navigator, an all-in-one digital platform designed to help organizations elevate their sustainable procurement programs. Built on a decade of refined best practices, this platform provides advanced capabilities for benchmarking performance, receiving targeted insights, and accessing curated resources to guide program development and drive tangible impact.

"SPLC Navigator was developed by aligning its criteria with a wide range of global standards and frameworks,” said Marc Heisterkamp, Chief Executive Officer of SPLC. “This rigorous approach ensures organizations can effectively measure their performance and benchmark against peers to drive tangible progress."

The resulting criteria is organized across five measured pillars: Strategic Integration, Product Sustainability, Supplier Sustainability, Make it Matter (i.e. Supplier Accountability), and External Leadership.  Key performance indicators (KPIs) within each pillar are self-assessed relevant to that organization's prioritized sustainability impacts and spend, in order to obtain an overall sustainable procurement score. This score can then be compared to peers within the same type of organization (e.g. corporate, government, educational institution) to understand performance to the criteria and similar organizations.

Navigator Basic includes a 38-question, multiple choice questionnaire to assess the maturity of your sustainable procurement activities. Navigator Pro expands on this by adding a sustainable procurement benchmark chart, set of recommended actions, and supporting resources in an Advanced Report. The Top 5 performing organizations in each sector (Corporate, Government, Higher Education, and Non-Profit) are recognized on the SPLC website and at the SPLC Annual Leadership Awards.

"Navigator's benchmarking feature gave us the objective data we needed to understand our program's strengths and weaknesses,” said Irma Harpley, Procurement Sustainability Leader at American Red Cross. “The platform offered a wealth of resources and actionable steps that will be instrumental in helping us mature our Sustainable Procurement Program."

SPLC Navigator is made possible by support from Pioneer Supporters Rose International, Sustainability Advantage, Aramark, and MGM Resorts, Technology Partner SHIFT, and Promotional Partner National Association of Educational Procurement. Additional sponsorship opportunities are available for the platform’s continued development.

The 2025 Navigator sustainable procurement assessment reporting window will close on October 7. Please visit the SPLC website for more information or to sign up for SPLC Navigator.
